Jason Alper is a fearless costume designer with an irreverent eye, best known for creating the iconic characters of Ali G, Borat and Brüno. In 2010, Jason was nominated by the Costume Guild of America for Excellence in Contemporary Film for Brüno, on which he also carries a producer credit. Jason was later invited to be a part of The V&A Hollywood Costume Exhibition, curated by Deborah Landis, with the inclusion of Borat’s suit as one of the 100 most iconic movie costumes of all time.
Inspired by an array of cultures in his home town of London, his life was and is an ongoing dichotomy. Jason’s costume design spans across movies, commercials, uniforms, music videos, and the red carpet. He has undeniably been a major influencer of popular culture around the world for the past three decades.
Always one to push the envelope, Jason segued his inventiveness into a fine art medium with two sell-out art shows in Los Angeles, where wry fusion of contemporary and classic icons were served up with the same satire and irony that has often characterized his work as a costume designer.
Jason lives in Los Angeles with his wife and children.
